Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (staying at home)
SUN 21 JUNE 2020
The two-year Masters course in the Opera Department at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow has 24 singers and 4 repetiteurs from all over the world. Students, aged 24 to 30 years, receive two vocal lessons a week, music coaching, weekly acting classes, coaching in language and audition technique.
Recently there have been masterclasses with Sue Bullock and Sir Simon Keenlyside, and the school works collaboratively with Scottish Opera and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
With the onset of the pandemic many students had to return to their families – from Philadelphia, USA to Auckland, New Zealand. Their productions of Dialogues des Carmelites and L’incoronazione di Poppea, were cancelled.
However, they have sung for Grange Park Opera.
