Whilst at the Purcell School, Kausikan Rajeshkumar (b. 1990) was prize winner in the International Liszt Competition in Weimar and was keyboard finalist in BBC Young Musician of the Year. He went on to study at Cambridge University, Royal College of Music, and Accademia Pianistica di Imola and the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.

Kausikan won the 2009 International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists in Weimar, and the prize for improvisation. More recently, he has won the Parnassos International Piano Competition, International Piano Competition María Herrero, RCM Schumann and Beethoven Competitions, taken second prize at the Darmstadt International Chopin Piano Competition. He has performed extensively across the UK and abroad, including at the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall.
