The Gascoigne Orchestra

One of the UK’s most famous and experienced opera orchestras – with over 80 productions in its repertoire – makes its début at Grange Park Opera with Ivan the Terrible by Rimsky-Korsakov in the 2021 season.

As the Garsington Opera Orchestra, the musicians performed for 25 years to a steady crescendo of critical acclaim first at Garsington Manor, near Oxford and for much of the past decade at Wormsley Park, home of the Getty family, in Buckinghamshire.

Their reading of Britten’s The Turn of the Screw which was awarded the 2020 RPS Award for Opera & Music Theatre and won great praise in the press.

The orchestra will now be known as the Gascoigne Orchestra as a tribute to Bamber & Christina Gascoigne.
