Nazan Fikret

British-Irish-Turkish soprano Nazan Fikret is “a silver-toned soprano whose growing reputation is built on the unaffected beauty of her voice and the intelligence with which she deploys it” (Mark Valencia, Opera). Trained at the GSMD, she is former Britten-Pears Young Artist, Making Music AYCA Winner, and recipient of an International Opera Awards Bursary. She has garnered critical acclaim across major international opera houses and festivals, as well as establishing herself in concert and song platforms, and as a passionate educator and advocate for arts in the community.
Nazan has been a principal for opera houses such as Royal Ballet and Opera, English National Opera, Teatro Real, Glyndebourne, Welsh National Opera and Nederlandse Reisopera. This season she made company debuts for Opera North and Opera Poznań, in her signature role as Mozart’s Queen of the Night. To conclude the season, she makes her Buxton International Festival debut as Madame Herz The Impresario. In 23/24 she debuted Anne Trulove The Rake’s Progress and Clorinda La Cenerentola for English Touring Opera; and Suor Genovieffe Suor Angelica for West Green House Opera. Notable baroque debuts include Teofane Ottone for English Touring Opera, and Aristea in Pergolesi’s L’Olimpiade for Vache Baroque. Next season Nazan returns to Opera North as First Niece in Peter Grimes.
