Milly Forrest studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music. She was thrilled to be awarded the Ferrier-Loveday song prize in the 2020 Kathleen Ferrier singing competition as well as the singer’s prize in the Royal Over Seas League annual music competition which took place in September 2021.She has made a name for herself in the UK as a keen performer of new music. In January of this year, Milly sang with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a project conducted by Brett Dean at the Royal Festival Hall. In March she sang with the Jette Parker Young Artists in a Royal Opera House project championing new works by female composers as part of international women’s day and in September last year she took part in a recording with Oxford Lieder Festival working on songs by Cheryl Frances-Hoad. This summer she currently covered the title role in Dalia, a new opera by Roxanna Panufnik with Garsington Opera.On the Operatic stage, Milly has sung Iris, Semele (Shanghai Symphony Orchestra), Alice, Le Comte Ory (Garsington Opera), cover Barbarina – Le Nozze di Figaro (English National Opera) and Miranda – The Enchanted Island (British Youth Opera).As a keen recitalist, Milly sang a selection of Britten’s folk song arrangements with Roger Vignoles in May 2021 at Snape Maltings. With her regular duo partner Hamish Brown she has recently given recitals at Wigmore Hall and St George’s Bristol. She has performed at Ronnie Scott’s, the Cadogan Hall and has recorded at Abbey Road studios with London Grammar and Emeli Sande.She is a Samling Young Artist, a Britten Pears Young Artist and an Opera Prelude young Artist.
