Born USA. Recent & forthcoming engagements: Traviata (Edmonton Opera), Bess (Detroit Symphony, Baltimore Symphony), she creates title role in Tom Cipullo’s Josephine (Opera Colorado).
As Bess, Laquita has performed with San Francisco Opera (with DVD recording), New Jersey State Opera, Atlanta Opera, Madison Symphony, Boston Symphony (Tanglewood and Symphony Hall), and Robert Russell Bennett’s Porgy & Bess Suite with Cleveland Orchestra, Santa Barbara Symphony, Sheboygan Symphony and the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra. Other appearances: Traviata, Micaela Carmen (New York City Opera), Leonora Trovatore (South Carolina, Nashville Opera), Musetta Bohème (Los Angeles), Mimì Bohème (Cincinnati, Utah).
Laquita is an alumna of the San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program, Houston Grand Opera Studio and a Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Grand Prize Winner.
