John Rigby

Born in St Helen’s Merseyside, Dr John Rigby gained his PhD from King’s College London having researched the cultural resonances of Franz Lehár’s ‘Berlin’ operettas during the Weimar Republic.  He began his career in Musical Theatre, working both in Europe and London’s West End, and last Summer, he conducted the new production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at London’s Palladium.

Opera engagements have included Carmen Jones at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Carousel for Opera North, Chess for English National Opera, Die Fledermaus for Opera Holland Park and Madama Butterfly for Lyric Opera, Dublin. Regular concert work has included performances with the CBSO, the Hallé, the RPO and the RTÉ Orchestras.  Away from the podium, he enjoys food, wine and learning to fly. This is his debut with Grange Park Opera.
