David Stout

David’s appearances at Grange Park Opera include Posa Don Carlo, Sancho Panza Don Quichotte, Papageno Magic Flute, Poacher Cunning Little Vixen demonstrate his artistic versatility. As Papageno, he played his own chimes – often played in the pit by a pianist – and has earned a formidable reputation for his charisma and stage presence.

Recent engagements include Donner Rheingold (Sir Mark Elder and Hallé), Douglas Guglielmo Ratcliff (Wexford Festival), Leporello Giovanni (Grand Théâtre de Genève), Bartolo Barbiere di Siviglia (Den Norske Opera), Harasta Cunning Little Vixen, Napoleon War & Peace, Gratiano Merchant of Venice (Welsh National Opera), Henry Kissinger Nixon in China, Dulcamara L’Elisir d’amore (Theater St Gallen), Roucher Andrea Chénier (Royal Opera House), Sancho Panza Don Quichotte (Bregenzer Festspiele), Figaro Marriage of Figaro and Kothner Meistersinger von Nürnberg (English National Opera), Renzo Silvano and Frank Edgar (Scottish Opera) Marcello Bohème (Scottish Opera). David combines his opera schedule with his passion for oratorio and song repertoire.

With a degree in Zoology and a background in safari in Southern Africa, David is a keen naturalist.
