Where?

We are on the edge of London.

The five-tier opera house with a large orchestra pit is modelled on La Scala, Milan. Its acoustic and intimacy have been deemed exceptional. It nestles in the woodland behind West Horsley Place.

The opera house is a 40-minute drive from Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.

The summer evening

Glyndebourne has made famous the format of English summer opera the world over: the long leisurely interval and the tranquillity of an English garden.

Many say that the experience at Grange Park Opera is like the old days… formal gardens (where Queen Elizabeth I wandered for a week in 1559) and an ancient house where there is interval dining.

But most importantly, the opera is top-notch.

When?

There are 21 evenings spread over six weeks: Thursday 5 June 2025 – Sunday 13 July 2025. A full calendar is here.

Who?

Luxury casts include superstar Sir Simon Keenlyside, taking the title role in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra; Rachel Nicholls, who forsakes her family for warrior Mazeppa; and Hye-Youn Lee as the diminutive Cio-Cio-San whose love is an American lieutenant.

What?

Music calls to our souls, as do great romances. Four captivating operas of heartache and longing whisk you to Japan, Italy, India and Cossack Ukraine.
