Claire Pendleton
Claire Pendleton soprano studied at UCL/Birkbeck College and Trinity College of Music. She is a long standing member of the ENO Chorus. Roles for ENO include: First Lay Sister Suor Angelica, Villager Jenůfa, Laura Luisa Miller, Fido Paul Bunyan, Nurse A Perfect American, solo voice Turandot, Market-seller Kismet, audition soprano On the Town, Old Lady A Dog’s Heart and Suburban Mum Two Boys. Also at ENO she has covered the roles of Maud Jack the Ripper: The Women of Whitechapel, Mrs Naidoo Satyagraha, Mrs Rutland Marnie, Mayor’s Wife Jenůfa, Berta The Barber of Seville, English Woman Death in Venice, Giulia The Gondoliers, Flower Maiden Parsifal.
Elsewhere, operatic highlights include Madame Lidoine, First Lady The Magic Flute, Micaëla, Countess, High Priestess and the title roles of Vanessa, Anna Bolena and Rusalka.
On the concert platform, she has performed in Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Hymn of Praise, Brahms’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiemand Mass in C minor, Bach’s B Minor Mass, Messiah, Carmina Burana and Rossini’s Petite messe solenelle.
Claire has recorded the role of Blush of Morning in Sullivan’s Rose of Persia (Chandos and BBC Music Magazine) and has sung for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and radio. She has performed in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Palace of Westminster, Tower of London, Brighton Dome Concert Hall, London Palladium, Theatre Royal, QEH and RFH.
Claire is a vocal health practitioner & also qualified to facilitate Parkinson’s choirs.
She has taught singing, privately for over 25 years & has run vocal masterclasses, as well as adjudicated competitions.
The 2025 2026 season has already included all performances singing the role of Mrs Charlton and covering the role of Sister Catherine in Jake Heggie’s opera, Dead Man Walking for English National Opera at the London Coliseum, & the role of Gerhilde in Die Walküre at Piggotts Music Camp and a debut both in the role of Tebaldo in Don Carlo (Verdi), and as a principal artist for Grange Park Opera in the summer of 2026.
