April Dalton

April Dalton is a UK based Set and Costume Designer for Theatre, Opera and Dance.  She graduated from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with a First Class (BA Hons) in Theatre Design, winning the Costume Design Award and was later shortlisted for the Linbury Prize 2015.

Recent work includes ‘Baroque Encounters’ (New English Ballet Theatre) ‘Jane Eyre’/ ‘Carousel’ (Royal Academy of Music), ‘The Odyssey: Episode 1 – The Lotus Eaters’ (Restoke/ National Theatre Public Acts), ‘Solace’ (New English Ballet Theatre/Linbury Theatre, ROH), ‘Silla’ (Northern Opera Group),  ‘La liberazione di Ruggiero’ and ‘Spell Book’ – Double bill (Longborough Festival Opera), ‘Migrations’, ‘Le Vin Herbe’ and ‘Freedom’ Season (Welsh National Opera), ‘Imminent’ (Birmingham Royal Ballet), ‘Der Zaubertrank’ (Theater und Konzert St. Gallen) and ‘Remembrance’ and ‘Four Seasons’ (New English Ballet Theatre).

April is also Co- Artistic Director of Red Oak Theatre in Cardiff, the company in residence at the Sherman Theatre.

Upcoming work includes ‘Les Noces’ for New Movement Collective ‘Rake’s Progress’ for English Touring Opera and a new piece for Grange Park Opera.

April has a particular interest in design for unconventional and site-specific spaces, as well as a strong commitment to finding ways to build sustainable design practise.
