Andrew Shore as The General

Andrew was born Oldham, Lancashire. He began his 40-year opera career with Opera For All and Kent Opera and has since appeared with all UK major opera houses – around fifty productions with English National Opera alone – as well as the Metropolitan Opera New York, Lyric Opera of Chicago, La Scala Milan, Paris Opera.

Recent & forthcoming engagements include Bartolo Barber of Seville, Pooh Bah Mikado , Bartolo Marriage of Figaro (English National Opera), Dad Greek (Scottish Opera) title role Don Pasquale (WNO). Other appearances include Alberich Ring, title role in Verdi’s Falstaff, Beckmesser Meistersinger, Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore, title role in Tippett’s King Priam and title role Wozzeck. Interests Andrew’s favourite opera picnic would always include Serrano ham, Manchego cheese and a crisp Albariño wine from Galicia. (He is also a great steam train enthusiast.)

At Grange Park Opera he played The General in Prokofiev’s The Gambler in 2007.
