What we're doing in prison
The weekly classes in Bronzefield, led by Helen Sennett, have continued.
Lower category prisoners are moved on roughly every 50 days. Therefore, in order to maintain a consistent group, participants are required to attend for six weeks.
Last week, Helen’s group sang for the prison Christmas Carol Service and received huge applause from their peers.
In the coming week, the group will sing at the prison’s 2025 Achievement Award Ceremony, which recognises a wide range of activities within the prison. The women in Helen’s group will each receive a certificate of achievement.
Next term, Helen will introduce more drama-based work and is exploring the possibility of following a LAMDA-based curriculum. This would enable the women to sit for examinations and gain LAMDA qualifications.
The next big production is in Spring 2027 – possibly Hello Dolly.
