GRANGE PARK OPERA IS A CHARITY    |    DONATE TO BAMBER GASCOIGNE LEGACY PROJECT

Fidelity Island of Dreams

Shakespeare’s play The Tempest has attracted composers across the centuries but – its most recent reinvention is by Anthony Bolton, director of Fidelity International.

Opera giant Sir David Pountney collaborates with Austrian video designer David Haneke whose video creations are presented on three giant moving screens (7 metres tall).

They bring to life Shakespeare’s shipwreck, a magic carpet ride, and the enchantment of Prospero’s island where the story of family betrayal, revenge and first love unfolds.

This is more than just a visit to the opera. Guests arrive early to wander in the historic walled gardens, champagne glass in hand, and a convivial atmosphere reigns: the city seems far away. A short walk through the ancient orchard – passing a 300-year-old mulberry tree – takes you to the five-tier opera house.

In the long interval you may picnic or dine in the historic house, where Queen Elizabeth I stayed for a week and where BBC Ghosts is filmed.

Members of the Fidelity family can buy tickets for £100.
