Amanda Echalaz

Amanda came to prominence when she represented South Africa in Cardiff Singer of the World.

She made her Covent Garden début in 2008 season as Ker in the world première of Harrison Birtwistle’s The Minotaur under the baton of Sir Antonio Pappano.

Appearances include Cio-Cio-San Madama Butterfly for Echalaz’s débuts at the Metropolitan Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago, Ariadne auf Naxos (Santa Fe), Lucia in the world première of Ades’ Exterminating Angel (Salzburg Festival, Covent Garden and Metropolitan Opera, New York), title role Tosca (Opera Australia, Santa Fe Opera, Berliner Staatsoper, l’Opéra National du Rhin, Sydney Opera House), Tatyana Onegin (Teatro Comunale di Bologna and English National Opera), title roles Manon Lescaut, Salomé, Butterfly (Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Brussels). She recently reprised Tosca at Covent Garden and Semperoper Dresden.
