SPEND A PENNY
We couldn’t hang on any longer
So many of Rome’s great buildings are circular. There’s the mighty Colosseum, Bramante’s sublime Tempietto, Castel Sant’Angelo . . . and of course, the most magnificent building in the world – the Pantheon. So I humbly propose that what is good enough for the Romans is good enough for Surrey. Which is where our Lavatorium Rotundum comes into the picture.
WHAT WE HAVE So far we have 10 piles (for once the connection between piles and a lavatorium are A Good Thing) on a specially chosen site which is surrounded by trees and a black poplar grows through the middle.
We have also had the decorators conjure up a vision. Besides the comfort that comes with a connection to a sewer, you will be beguiled by the 1940s interior with green puddle glaze tiles, 47 original Ministry of Defence lightshades – and an option of Bronco loo paper. The Gents includes a communal octagonal washing trough . . . so you can catch up on world affairs.
WHAT WE NEED The campaign is to raise £700,000 from Trusts & Foundations and individuals whose signatures appear on the Wall of Nature
