DINING & PICNICS
Guests arrive from two hours before the opera starts. They explore the gardens, have tea, or a glass of champagne and canapes at the the White Wisteria Champagne Bar. It is on the west of the house, by a very old yew tree through which is growing a white wisteria – possibly the tallest in the country.
During the 100 minute long interval you can picnic or dine.
There are two restaurants with the same three-course menu: (i) dine with the Duchess in the 15th century house (ii) the bucolic Walnut Tree Restaurant in the walled orchard.
The picnic possibilities are infinite. But here are a few options:
● in the Croquet lawn marquee
● in a Raj-style pavilion (the Crinkle-Crankle garden, the Rose Parterre are just two options)
● on the Venerable Spongy Lawn
● under an Apple Tree in the walled orchard
We can provide a picnic hamper, crockery is available for hire, as is a porter to collect your picnic from the car park.
