DINING & PICNICS
Guests arrive from around 4pm – two hours before the opera starts – and with a glass of champagne, they wander through the historic gardens where a convivial atmosphere reigns. The city seems far away.
The White Wisteria Champagne Bar
On the west of the house, growing through a very old yew tree, is a white wisteria – possibly the tallest in the country. Under it is our champagne bar.
The Long Interval
During the long interval you can picnic or dine.
There are two restaurants with the same three-course menu. £77 for three courses, water, coffee
(i) dine with the Duchess in the 15th century house
(ii) the bucolic Walnut Tree Restaurant in the walled orchard.
The picnic possibilities are infinite. But here are a few options:
● in the Croquet lawn marquee
● in a Raj-style pavilion (the Crinkle-Crankle garden, the Rose Parterre are just two options)
● on the Venerable Spongy Lawn
● under an Apple Tree in the walled orchard
We can provide a picnic hamper, crockery is available for hire, as is a porter to collect your picnic from the car park.
Fortnum & Mason Picnics
If you need someone to shoulder the stress of sourcing the picnic, Fortnum & Mason has created custom-made hampers especially for Grange Park Opera.
